Sugar daibates are very easy to maintain
The flower stem should be held in a firm but steady hold with your thumb and forefinger of your other hand. You should be able to use your thumb and forefinger of your other hand to force the flower stem forward in the same way as if you were trying to pull a toothpaste cap off.
Make sure the bulbous side is facing you. To do this, take the flower stem and bend it up and forward so that the bulbous side is facing you and pull at the same time as if you were trying to remove a stubborn plastic cap.
Do this at least two or three times for good results.
The daisy will stay upright.
Tips to look after your sugar daibates

A little piece of bark or a piece of plastic or wood put into the ground as mulch around your daisy will prevent moisture from evaporating off it and make your plant
